Pupils from 3rd to 6th classes did a magnificent job clearing stones from the pitch back in September. The area to the rear of the car park developed a problem when the soil settled and all the stones near the surface appeared, meaning the grass could not be cut.
Over three trailer loads of stones were collected. The pupils (and teachers) displayed brilliant staying power, concentration and a hard work ethic to get the job done and save our caretaker Davy’s back!
As a result, we managed to have all the pupils on the grass area at break, when possible, over the next few weeks. The pupils can rightly claim ownership over their field after all the hard work.
Well done to all pupils, teachers, Davy and parent Damien McBride for completing the project.
