In history, we have been learning about the 1960s. In the 1960s there was a cultural revolution when young people stopped listening to the older generation. They wore mini skirts and let their hair long and loose with flowers in it. Pop music became popular in the sixties with bands like The Beatles, The Who and The Beachboys topping the charts.
In 1963, President John F Kennedy came to visit Ireland from America. Later that year, he was assassinated. Neil Armstrong was the first person to walk on the moon. When he reached the moon he said that it was “One small step for man and one giant step for mankind.”
People painted their houses in strong colours and in modern design. In art, we made our own 1960s showroom out of shoe boxes with paint and fabrics.
We really enjoyed learning about the 1960s.
