10 Slane N.S. pupils from 2nd to 6th class were picked out of the hat and got to visit Newgrange last week to pick out the lucky visitors to the winter solstice this year. Pupils from Knockcommon and Donore N.S. were also present. Sixty lucky winners were chosen and forty reserve places were also drawn. The winners were from as far away as Japan Canada, USA and as close as Donore. After the draw had concluded, one Slane NS pupil LD, found his own application form among the entries.
After the draw, food was laid on for the pupils and teachers and the pupils were then driven back to school by bus. May thanks to Clare Tuffy, head of Brú na Bóinne Centre, for inviting the pupils annually.
