Meeting Nicola Pierce.
Today was a very exciting day. All of fourth class got the chance to visit Slane Library and meet the author Nicola Pierce. Before we went, I was partners with Sophie. When we were walking to the library, we talked about Nicola and wondered what she would look like. When we arrived, my teacher Ms. O’Brien introduced us to Nicola Pierce.
Sophie and myself were very surprised and very happy meeting Nicola Pierce. To start, we all sat on our coats, Ms. Pierce said “Hello!”and we all greeted her back. I really liked her hair, it was dyed green and red, and she was wearing funky clothes. Nicola was so cool! We all sat silently as she discussed with us the four books she had written. The books were called Spirit of the Titanic, City of Fate, Behind the Walls and Kings of the Boyne. It was very interesting to listen to tell us all about the history of the Battle of the Battle of the Boyne. I really enjoyed this part as my third class teacher, Mr. Flanagan taught us this last year and it was nice remembering that.
Finally, the visit was over. I couldn’t believe how fast it all went. Nicola Pierce thanked us for coming and we all thanked her back. Before we left, Nicola signed a few books for some children and I was very excited because she signed my hand and Sophie’s. When I got home, my mom took a photo of it for me. Walking back to school was so fun, because we all had a lot to talk about. We even met Mr. O’Donnell and sixth class on the way for their visit too. Sitting in class having lunch today was lovely as we all shared our feelings about our visit. Thank you Nicola.
