St. Patrick’s N.S. hosted the Ombudsman for Children, Dr. Niall Muldoon for a question and answer session in school on Thursday the 18th of November last.
The pupils had been working on the Ombudsman’s programme Tune In over the last three weeks in class, which is looking for the views of children in relation to their rights. There are forty rights relating to children laid down by the United Nations.
The pupils gave their feedback to four questions that the Ombudsman’s office are asking:
- Where would you like to get information about children’s rights?
- Who would you trust to give you information about children’s rights?
- What kind of information are you interested in getting about children’s rights?
- How would you like your rights to be made available?
There was no shortage of feedback from the pupils. The session then ended with some questions that the pupils had for Niall.
We would like to thank him sincerely for his visit. A sincere word of thanks also to the pupils for engaging so well and to Ms. O’Brien, Ms. Murphy, Mr. Flanagan and Mr. Fagan for all their preparation work for the event.
