Slane had a hard fought contest in stiff breezy conditions in Ballivor this week. The score certainly did not tell the full story as Ballivor were one point down with five minutes to go and had a number of players missing for the game.
Slane played with the breeze in the first half but found it difficult to find their range in front of the goals due to the breeze but they did lead 0-06 to 1-01 at half time.
The second half was as close as the first with two physical, hard tackling teams. The blocking and marking from both sides was commendable. Despite being four points down, Ballivor came back with a goal but substitute Braydon Colfer replied with a goal for Slane and Oisín Mooney and Michael English added points before the end of the game.
