Slane NS now has a school weather station in our school garden. The station records the wind speed, air temperature, air pressure, rainfall and humidity. It sends a signal to a unit in 4th class which shows all the information. It then sends a signal to our school Twitter account @Slanens which tweets the weather two times a day.
Pupils in 4th class also read out the weather and the forecast for later in the day just before lunch breaks. The temperature helps pupils to decide whether or not to put on their coats! It is a practical way for the pupils to understand what is going on in the world around them.
Many thanks to Cian O’Donnell, Ms. O’Brien, Davy and the 4th class pupils for assisting with this project.
