Big Sing
On the 27th November 2008, the children and teachers joined in on a Guinness World Record attempt for the largest "Simultaneous Singalong". Originally a UK attempt on previous occasions, this time Ireland was included in the global attempt.
Having been registered to take part, all the children gathered in the school hall and at exactly 2:45pm began to sing Des'ree's song 'You Gotta Be'. An official count was taken of all the children present and we had witnesses to sign the form also.
The event was broadcast live across many radio stations and internet streams. With the radio tuned in, we all sang for the 5mins, along with all the other children in other schools and countries.
While the UK were collecting for their own charities, the money raised in Ireland is to be split between Special Olympics Ireland, Childline & ISPCC.
We are awaiting the final, official count as to how many people took part around the world. What an event! The children were all excited at the thought of being part of a World Record Attempt. Fingers crossed!
