First and fourth classes were lucky to have a pollination workshop with Edel Heeran this week. Edel is a beekeeper and she spoke to the classes about wild bee species in Ireland, how they are in danger and what we can do to help them. A huge thank you to all those who donated clothes for the recent Parent’s Association fundraising drive. A whopping 1.250 tonnes was recycled. Thank you also to Davy for co-ordinating the clothes in his shed and assisting with the collection.

4th class were busy in the school garden this month starting to plant vegetables. We planted potatoes, carrots and lettuce. The potatoes were planted in our raised beds and the carrots and lettuce were started off in our new polytunnel. Skills focussed on were seed sowing in the ground, in module trays and seed potatoes planted into the soil. Fingers crossed for a good harvest.
