Green Flag Number 4!

After being inspected Peter Brady, or "the man", as he was referred to by some of the Junior Infants, we received word that our school has been awarded our fourth Green Flag based on the topic of transport! At the time of posting, our school is 1 of 2 in the county to have achieved 4 Green Flags so far.

On the 28th January, Peter from Meath County Council visited us to see just how
green our school is. He was impressed by all the data we collected regarding the way we all come to school, as well as the information about road usage and traffic in the village of Slane. The Green Team were on hand to showcase our environmental ways of thinking from recycling to saving energy to conserving water. At assembly, the children sang the songs from our singing competition last year, again based on BOWOW and transport, and were prepared to answer any question about Green Schools if asked.

Mrs. Sheridan and a couple of pupils will be presented with the flag in March. We'll be hosting a flag-raising ceremony later this year to celebrate. Details will be posted on the site when they are confirmed.

Well done to all who have helped with this great achievement - pupils, teachers and staff. In particular, many thanks to all the parents who willingly made such a great effort to change transport habits.

Now that we have earned all four flags for our efforts, let's now turn to the next job...

...keeping them!!
