Sports Day took place last Friday in ideal conditions; cool, overcast, but dry, out on the school pitch. The Active School’s committee had done a wonderful job in preparing for the event, speaking to all the teachers and all of the pupils, organising the colour-coordinated groups, and the activities for the whole day. It could not have taken place without them.
In the morning, there were group stations, including the bouncy castles, penalties, squirrels and foxes, tag, and an obstacle course. After the fruit break inside, it was then onto the races, for each class level. Finally, in the afternoon, there was some free play, along with an ice cream for every pupil, kindly paid for by the Parents’ Association. Finally, when pupils came inside, the Active Schools’ committee had some “Drop Everything and Dance” music in the classrooms.
The highest compliment that the committee could be paid, was by Davey, who at three o’clock, looked out on the pitch, and saw not one piece of equipment on it. They, along with the pupils in the groups, had tidied everything as they went.
Well done to all the pupils on the day, and to all the staff for organising each of the stations in the morning. There is no doubt that everyone got a good night’s sleep on Friday night.
