On Monday, the 15th of January, Ethan, Ronan & I were on hen duty for the week.
On Monday mornings, Davy lets out the hens. For the rest of the week, we let the hens out. We let them out at 9:25 am in the morning when we get the key to the hen house. Next, we put on the coats, gloves and wellies and unlock the hen house. We check to make sure there are 8 hens.
Finally, we take off everything and head back to class.
At 10:45 am, we go back to the hen house and this time we bring a bowl for the eggs. We put on all the gear and we clean them out. We put the poo in the composter and collect the eggs. At this time, everybody is playing outside. We join in at the end of the break and we bring in the eggs.
At 12:15 pm, we clean the eggs at the back of the classroom.
At 2:45 pm, we lock in the hens and usually check for more eggs. We then deliver the eggs to the people that have paid.
