Dear Parents/Guardians,
I hope that everyone is continuing to keep safe and well during these challenging times. I am sure you are all aware of the Government announcement in relation to schools. We will now be closed until September. In the meantime, the school is preparing for the safe return of our pupils and staff. We will be seeking more clarity from the Department of Education and Skills on the guidelines we need to follow in relation to this and we will keep you updated and informed on a regular basis.
The last term of school is a very busy one and the same is true this year and we will continue to keep you informed of any developments that happen over the next few weeks. Many of you will have concerns about classes, books, uniforms etc. but rest assured we will provide information on all of those matters as soon as we are in a position to do so.
I would like to congratulate the pupils, parents and staff on your engagement with distance learning. Although, it is different to what we are used to, the way in which everyone has adapted is fantastic and has enabled us to provide continuity in the education of our pupils. We understand that this is a very challenging time at home where people are trying to work from home and/or away from home and also trying to support family members as well as monitor the school work that is being provided. Please do not be under any pressure and do as much as you and your child can manage. A special word of thanks to all of our workers on the frontline, many of which are parents and family members of our pupils and the wider community. Everyone is playing their part in stopping the spread of the virus so well done and let’s keep it going by maintaining our social distance and hand hygiene.
A reminder that if you have any queries you can contact the school via email on office@slanens.ie and we will get back to you as soon as possible.
Stay safe and well and we will be in touch soon with further updates.
P.S. Davy is taking really good care of the hens and they are doing really well but they cannot wait to see the pupils again when we return to school!
Le meas,
Lorna Gerrard
