At the Zoo in April
The theme this month was ‘At the Zoo’. The children had so much fun learning about different animals, working as zookeepers and designing their own animal enclosures. We made the most of the fine weather and had our lunch alfresco. They were excited to see how much their sunflowers had grown over the Easter holidays. We learned about primary colours and the children used primary colours to create their own Mondrian artwork.

Our caterpillars arrived in May and the children worked as illustrators to the marvellous story ‘The Very Hungry Caterpillar’ by Eric Carle! The children mixed primary colours to make secondary colours. They did balloon printing to make caterpillars! Our classroom plants need to be taken care of, lots of sunlight and water is needed to grow cucumbers and tomatoes.
