Senior Infants (Mrs. Connor and Mrs. Haigney

Mrs. Connor and Mrs. Haigney's senior infant class is located to the back of our school. One of the reasons for this is that senior infants engage in outdoor play a number of days a week and the room is close to the school's outdoor space. Students have outdoor clothing and wellies for this purpose.

The subjects that senior infants engage in are:

  • Primary Language Curriculum (English agus Gaeilge)
  • Mathematics
  • Social, Environmental and Scientific Education (SESE) (history, geography and science)
  • The Arts (visual arts, drama and music)
  • Social, Personal and Health Education (SPHE)
  • Physical Education (PE)
  • Patron's Programme

While there are senior infant students in the other class, all three teachers plan collaboratively and the two class groups do come together for activities, including outdoor play, Christmas plays, sports coaching, school tours and other events throughout the year. This is important so they keep up their friendships with students in the other class and also as the full class group may come back together in the future or be reconfigured with other students in it.

The senior infant school day is from 9.20am until 2.00pm.
