Dear parents and guardians,
I hope that you are all keeping safe and well in these difficult times. Further to the announcement made regarding school closure until April 19th, I am delighted to inform you that from March 30th onwards, we will be using an online platform ‘Seesaw’ as our tool for continuing on with your child’s learning.
Given the nature of these unprecedented times we are in, we have no doubt but that children will engage with the activities provided as much as they can, without causing any undue stress or further anxiety at already difficult times. These activities will be posted daily by each teacher for their class to engage with. They will vary in subject area and response, and we are confident that all the children will really enjoy what is in store for them each day! The teachers have it set up that only each individual child and the teacher can view their work and the teacher approves all posts.
Seesaw requires the permission/consent from all parents and guardians for children to actively engage with their learning. If you do not wish for your child to engage with the Seesaw app for these learning activities, please email the school at office@slanens.ie before Monday 30th March. This will remove consent for using the Seesaw application with immediate effect.
This will be a wonderful opportunity for both pupils and staff and we are excited to engage with it from March 30th. Until then, please continue with all the excellent work you have been doing at home and check out the school website for more online activities and other ideas to promote learning.
Please ensure that you read through the correspondence which has been posted to each home this week. It will include your child’s unique code for accessing Seesaw and details on how to get started with our online learning programme.
Wishing all families continued health during these challenging times.
Regards,
Lorna Gerrard
