4th Class Stanley Hill Visit

Fourth class pupils and their teachers travelled up to Stanley Hill at the back of our school for their last outdoor learning lesson of this year.

                                                                         Pupils running down Stanley Hill

The pupils had been learning about the Hill and the poem written by Francis Ledwidge about his memories of it as a child.

While up on the Hill, the children got to see most of Slane village and beyond, including the river Boyne, Hill of Slane, Slane Castle, Platin cement factory and the N2 road.

They all had great fun exploring the hill and its surroundings for the morning.

The activity was a great opportunity for the children to see history and geograpphy in action outdoors, as well as getting a chance to connect to their local place.

We all arrived back to school in one piece.
