We have been learning about weather across all subject areas. In History, we learned about the Night of the Big Wind in 1839 by reading newspaper extracts from the time. Two favourites emerged from the class:

  1. The extract which told about a pig that got blown into a neighbour's tree (and survived!)
  2. The extract which read about a man from Slane who accidentally(!) chewed upon a stick and found it to taste of the salt of the sea!

Children then drew and wrote about what a person who lived in a cottage in the time may have experienced.
