School Cleaner Position
St. Patrick's National School, Slane invites applications for the position of School Cleaner.
This is an important role within our school community, responsible for helping to ensure that the school buildings are maintained to a high standard of cleanliness and hygiene and provide a safe, healthy, and welcoming environment for pupils, staff, and visitors.
The position is for 17.5 hours per week (3.5 hours per day) during school term.
Main Duties
The successful candidate will be responsible for:
- Cleaning classrooms, corridors, offices, staff areas, toilets, and other school facilities.
- Vacuuming, sweeping, mopping, and maintaining floors to a high standard.
- Cleaning and sanitising toilet and washroom facilities and ensuring adequate supplies are maintained.
- Dusting and cleaning furniture, fixtures, windows, and other surfaces.
- Emptying bins and ensuring the proper disposal of waste and recycling.
- Maintaining high standards of hygiene throughout the school premises.
- Ensuring cleaning equipment and materials are used and stored safely and appropriately.
- Reporting any maintenance, safety, or security concerns observed during cleaning duties.
- Assisting with occasional deep-cleaning tasks during school holidays or as required.
- Carrying out other duties appropriate to the role as may reasonably be assigned by the Principal or Board of Management.
Shortlisting Criteria
Applicants should demonstrate:
- Relevant experience in cleaning, housekeeping, or a similar role.
- Knowledge of cleaning procedures and health and safety practices, including the safe use and storage of cleaning products.
- The ability to work independently, manage time effectively, and maintain high standards of cleanliness.
- Reliability and good communication skills, with the ability to interact positively with staff, pupils, and visitors.
