St. Patrick's National School had one senior team and one junior team entered in the 2026 Credit Union quiz competition.
Previously the Slane and District Credit Union quiz took place in Rathkenny Hall with six or seven local schools participating. This meant that schools could enter multiple junior and senior teams, making for a great day out for the schools.
However, times are changing nd Slane and District Credit Union is now a part of Drogheda Credit Union. This resulted in this year's competition taking place in DIFE College, Drogheda with many more schools in the area participating. As a result, each school could only enter two quiz teams.
On the night, the standard of questions was very high with some including the highest mountain in Africa, questions based on the periodic table of the elements, when England last won the World Cup, what a male elephant is called and many more to give most of us a headache.

At the end, our senior team did themselves very proud with a great performance, just missing out on the top places. However, our junior team went one step further, winning the junior section of the competition. They now go on to the Chapter final in the coming weeks.

Congratulations to the pupils participating this evening and all those who participated in school since November. Many thanks also to all the teachers who helped with quizzes, especially Ms. Gerrard , our quiz co-ordinator, and parents of the children, who supported them in advance and on the evening itself.
