First communion for pupils in second class took place last weekend in St. Patrick's Church, Slane. Families and friends joined the pupils to celebrate the event in glorious sunshine.

The mass was celebrated by Fr. Richard Matthews and ably assisted by the pupils, who had been preparing for the day throughout the school year with school staff Kathy Haigney, Debbie Connor, Tim Dineen, Niamh Grehan and Rachel Halton. Music was provided on the day by the school choir, led by Kevin Fagan and Cathy Carey.

Afterwards the group had photographs taken on the lawn at the front of the Church, before families went to the school for tea and coffee, kindly provided by the Parents' Association volunteers. Many thanks to everybody who helped to make it a great day.
