Fourth class have been studying about air quality over the last month, including monitoring Nitrogen Dioxide levels around the school.

This week we looked at improving air quality by planting trees. We had a quiz to recognise native Irish trees by their leaves and fruit before planting maple seeds in the polytunnel.
Although maple is not native to Ireland, it is a beautiful tree and it is planted all across the front of our school. The pupils had a leaf fight with them last week during our lesson!
We will find out in spring time how many of the seeds germinate.
