New Curriculum Subject Social and Environmental Education (SEE) Pupil Feedback

This week we have one of our past pupils ED, back with us as a transition tear student, to help out in our school.

SEE pupil focus group with past pupil, and current TY student, ED

This year, we are introducing a new subject, Social and Environmental Education (SEE). It is history and geography combined, as well as incorporating religions, beliefs and worldviews.

E sat down with a focus group of randomly chosen pupils in our school from 3rd to 6th class to chat about their thoughts about the subjects currently and what they would like to see in the new curriculum.

The pupils generally like these subjects being taught, especially themes like the Vikings, Stone Age period, The Normans and life in Slane today and in the past, including the history of our school.

They prefer to learn by doing, like going on trips, being out in the school grounds and generally activities that involve standing up!

They would also like to learn more about climate change and ways to make our planet a better place.

The focus group will help us to shape the new curriculum and we thank the pupils and ED for facilitating the session.
