It has been announced by the Department of Education that St. Patrick's National School will be receiving a building upgrade to a Building Energy Rating of B during the summer holidays. This is a generational opportunity to future proof our school building for many years to come.
The works will include a new heating system, new roofing insulation, new windows and doors, new boiler, upgraded electricity supply and new lighting throughout the school.
We have quite a lot to do before the summer break. Plumbing contractors have already begun removing the heating system. Items will have to be boxed up and placed in storage before the summer break. We are moving our contents to a container, which has been placed on the school yard. Yesterday the container arrived and was placed on the yard, including turning it around in mid air, in a feat of engineering brilliance. While pupils were not there to see it, we took a recording below to show how it happened.
