We had a very busy September assembly in the school hall this week!
New pupils and Ms. Taaffe on her student placement were welcomed to the school after we all sang Ámhrán na bhFiann and the September birthdays were announced.
Ansin chuala muid cé hiad Gaeilgeoirí na Míosa do mhí Mheán Fómhair.

We then had lots of news and reminders about school, including the progress of the boys' and girls' gaelic football teams, the kindness of 6th class pupils mentoring junior infants, our air quality study, the opening of the community centre, donation of laptops from AG's mum, as well as GMcG and FH, who performed as part of Mr. Kelly's Culture Night recently in Duleek.
Next of all, each class was presented with books to supplement libraries in every class. The books had arrived as a result of the Scholastic book fair, at which our school received €1700 in credit. This was added to by money made by the egg company last year for extra readers in senior classes. Thanks to everyone who supported the Book Fair, including PA volunteers who co-ordinated it. Thanks also to the pupils who ran our egg company last year!

We then went over our green school reminders - saving water, using sustainable ways to travel to school, turning off lights and closing doors, looking after plants and animals in our school and putting waste in the correct bins.

Finally, we had a video from JB, showing us how to recreate a volcano. As he said himself, do not try this at home!
