As part of our Aistear theme “The School Office,” the Senior Infants visited Sharon in her office. The children were very excited and had lots of questions about her work.

Sharon showed us how busy she is during the school day. We saw her answering the phone, working on the computer, writing on the whiteboard and speaking into the intercom. The children noticed that there were lots of different items in the office that help Sharon with her work, including paper, files, pens, markers, sticky notes and paper clips.

The children were particularly interested in the photocopier and enjoyed finding out what it is used for. They were curious about how Sharon organises everything in her office and how she helps the school each day.

The visit gave the children a wonderful opportunity to see a real school office in action and helped them to develop their understanding of the different roles and responsibilities involved in running a school. It also provided lots of ideas and inspiration for our School Office role-play area.
