4th classes were making sustainable Christmas decorations this year from natural materials. They used cut willow branches as discs to paint on and attached pebbles on the front of each. Finally, brown garden twine was used to hang the decorations up. They were very creative!

Ms. Murphy’s senior infant class had a busy day making soup recently in the new outdoor classroom, funded by the Parents’ Association. They peeled and chopped carrots, leeks and potatoes. Thanks to Davy for lending his gas cooker which cooked everything up brilliantly. Ms. Murphy is not sharing her secret soup recipe for now!

Fourth classes were out looking for signs of winter last week in the school grounds. They heard rooks, house sparrows and seagulls, saw holly, birch, dogwood and hazel trees and rubbed the bark on the birch trees. In another sign of winter, the day was cold, with temperatures around one or two degrees Celsius so pupils could see water vapour when they breathed out. The sap has gone from trees now so they will be dormant over the winter months.
