We have just bought a wormery for our school. Already we reduce green food waste in classrooms by feeding it to the hens. St. Patrick’s National School hosted an open day for parents and the wider community in June to demonstrate the outdoor learning space in the school and how it is being used by pupils. There was a great turn out by parents, who finally got to see why their children were wearing wellies and outdoor clothing all year! Many thanks to all the attendees and top the Parent’s Association, who funded many of the resources in the space.

Fourth class were out at the front of the school this week sketching wildflowers, as a follow up to our pollination workshops. We have created a large no mow May wildflower area and their task was to sketch one or a number of wildflowers. It was a very quiet lesson!
