The Parents Association AGM

We would like to invite you, the members, to attend the AGM on Tuesday 24th September at 8:30pm in the School Hall, to find out more about the work of the PA.

YOUR CHILD – YOUR SCHOOL

The PA provides a structure which allows us as parents to work for the best possible education for the children.

The PA has a great working relationship with St. Patricks National School; the Principal, Staff and Board of Management. Just observe all the positive changes around the school that have been made possible because of this relationship. This makes the school a happier and better place for your child in their primary school education.

“The Parents Association is such a huge asset to our school community. When schools work in partnership with parents, teachers and the wider school community, it enhances outcomes for children. We are privileged here in St. Patrick’s NS to have had such a supportive and enthusiastic PA over the past number of years. From offering advice during policy review to fundraising for resources for the school, amongst other things, the PA is a great support for parents.” Lorna Gerrard, Acting Principal

ABOUT THE PA COMMITTEE

The Committee is elected at the AGM and is responsible for managing many activities during the school year including fun events like the Halloween party, bake sale, Santa’s visit etc. We also review policies and procedures and help with school events; for example, buses for swimming and football and assisting with school tours. Our help with these events is a great support to teachers and the children.

WE NEED YOU

This year the PA Committee is losing a few key members and we need to recruit new members to join the team. We are also losing our 2 PA representatives on the Board Of Management (BOM). These are four year positions and requires (1) male and (1) female representative respectively.

The PA meets monthly, on the 1st Thursday. The (2) BOM reps would be required to attend alternate PA meetings and attend all (5) BOM meetings during each school year.

ARE YOU READY TO GET INVOLVED?

There are different options if you’d like to get involved:

  • You can become a PA committee member

Attend meetings, give your views and partake in events where it is possible to do so.

  • You can become a PA volunteer

Join our volunteers list and assist at one or more school event(s). It’s a nice way to be involved without the commitment of attending monthly PA Committee meetings.

We would love to have new members to give new voices, new ideas and inject fresh enthusiasm for a new school year. It would be great if each class was represented on the PA Committee.

MAKE AN INFORMED DECISION

Come to our AGM and make an informed decision on whether to join the PA. You will see and hear all about the PA’s achievements in the last year. It may not suit you to join this year but perhaps attending the AGM may motivate you to become a volunteer and/or to join the PA Committee in the future. Keep an eye on our Facebook page for testimonials from past and present members on why they joined the PA Committee!

If you are already involved in other Community Committees or Organisations, why not come along to the PA AGM so you are informed and better understand the role of the PA? There may be interactions or co-operation that can be developed?

We look forward to meeting you all on the 24th!
